Minneapolis – Sunday, August 10th, 2014 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. – opening for the exhibit Art or Else, running through September. Thai artist Nodjadong Boonprasert, also known as “The Seeker,” has defied tradition to focus on his art full-time for the last three years. His prestigious degree in architecture lends precision to his graphic, illustrative style, and the use of graffiti, graphic design, tattoo and installation art brings a lone urban-influenced voice to his small ancient city of Phetburi and the Southern Provinces. With the current political climate in Thailand, his impassioned views have exposed him to discrimination, but have also charged his works on the subject with increasing relevance.
Nodjadong Boonprasert is a freelance muralist, graphic designer and tattoo artist. He earned a degree in architecture from Bangkok’s Chulalongkorn University in ____. His work has been featured on the covers of several Thai books and magazines. He has been commissioned for murals from numerous resorts and lodgings, including, in June, a 250-foot wall at the X2 Resort in Phuket. He has recently accepted an internship at Gamut Gallery in Minneapolis, where he plans to visit in 2015.
The Harriet Brewery is located at 3036 Minnehaha Avenue. The gallery is inside, as well as a bar, and there are food trucks on-site. There will be live music and fire performers to celebrate this opening.
